In 1995 we bought our first investment property in Sioux City IA. Over the years as we acquired more properties, it became apparent during the screening process that many of our local veterans were struggling to make ends meet. We saw a need in the community and made the decision to look beyond credit history and low-income status to help these veterans obtain rental housing. We have made it a priority to choose veterans over other more qualified applicants as a way to give back to the community and to show appreciation for their sacrifices. It is our firm belief that the nation does not do enough for those who have made sacrifices for our freedom. Too many veterans return from deployment with emotional or physical trauma and face limited job opportunities and housing choices.
In addition to accepting these military veterans for rental housing regardless of their job status and financial situation, we also offer them assistance with their rent payments. We offer lower-than-market rent and longer lease terms in order to provide stability and alleviate the stress of constantly having to find a new place to live. We also forgave late payments, overlooked missed rent payments, and even paid late utility bills to ensure the veterans had a safe and secure place to call home. We have donated thousands of dollars and countless hours to help veterans over the years. We have helped dozens of military families and hope to help many more in the future with this program.
Recently we noticed that additional Heroes needed assistance as well so we began helping healthcare workers, firefighters, police officers, and first responders who risk their lives every single day to protect us. They deserve respect and admiration from us all!
We started this initiative with the hope of making a positive difference in the lives of those who have dedicated their lives to serving and protecting others. We believe that working together can create a more supportive and caring community. The phrase "it takes a village" is especially relevant in this context, as it takes the efforts of many individuals and organizations to make a significant impact. With more funding and support, we hope to be able to reach and assist even more heroes in need. Our ultimate mission is to help those who have helped us, and we are committed to doing everything we can to achieve this goal.
